What Is Better
– A Steam Sauna or an Infrared Sauna and Why?
Infrared saunas
are alot better than a steam sauna.
There are several reasons why infrared Saunas are better
than steam sauna. The first reason is infrared saunas are
easier to install than a steam sauna. Aside from this, the
operating cost of an infrared sauna is much lower than that
of a steam sauna. And more important is that the degree
of health benefits of an infrared sauna is greater than
that of a steam sauna.
Unlike a steam
sauna, an infrared sauna is easy to install. If you choose
a infrared sauna, choosing the
location in your home may be the hardest task involved in
the whole process. The homeowners can easily do it themselves
without any plumbers or electricians to do it. But with
a steam sauna, it will be different. You need to hire an
electrician, and a plumber and the installation will take
several days to make sure everything is alright. In terms
of operation, the infrared home sauna will be very inexpensive
to operate compared to a steam sauna. The average cost of
a 30 minutes infrared sauna operation is only 5-7 cents
while a steam sauna is way more than that. Adding to this
is the fact that steam sauna need 30 to 90 minutes warm
up before use while an infrared sauna needs only as little
as 20 minutes.
In terms of beneficial
effects to the body, an infrared
home sauna gives more infrared heat rays to the body
because the heat of an infrared sauna is directed to the
body and not the surrounding air around the body. This will
result to a deeper heat penetration of the body. And because
the interior of an infrared
home sauna is not heated up, a person can enjoy a relaxing
therapy for a longer duration resulting to a more intense
therapy.
This
is entirely different with a traditional or steam home sauna.
A steam home sauna operates at a high temperature of 180
F to 220 F, while an infrared home sauna heat ranges from
110F to 140 F only. The high heat of a steam sauna is needed
because it operates through heat conviction. It has to heat
the air inside the room in order for it to heat the body
of the person having a therapy. This situation precludes
the person having therapy to relax and stay for a longer
duration inside the steam sauna because of unbearable heat,
thus resulting to a lesser degree of therapy.
